Gill Hicks: Surviving 7/7 charts the determination of the July 2005 bombings victim to rebuild her shattered body and life with one aim - to fight for peace. Gill Hicks - who lost both her legs in the atrocity - was a hugely talented designer whose career was booming when the explosion left her clinging for life. As she lay bleeding from her horrific wounds she had a choice: to die or live.
Gill's inspiring fight for life with the help of her then partner, Joe, is told in a moving, and yet at times, terrifying narrative. The documentary highlights one woman's battle to refuse to hate the terrorists who tried to kill her and, instead, establish 'Mad For Peace' - a movement driven by the cause of Peace.
Will Hanrahan, creative director, says: "This latest commission is representative of the programming HanrahanMedia's documentary arm FirstLookTV has built a reputation in most recently: highly sensitive subject matters that push us to deliver intensely emotive and compelling content. We're extremely grateful to Gill Hicks for opening up to us and enabling us to share her story and help raise awareness of Made For Peace."
